Growing succulents in fountains

There’s more than one way to roll when you’re growing succulents.

Sure you can grow your succulents in the ground, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. But have you tried growing succulents off the ground – especially in that bird bath you never fill?

With all the shapes, sizes and colors available in the succulent world, you can plant a collection to mimic a waterfall, instead.

Rosette shapes, tall leafy succulents, spillers, fillers and various colors make growing succulents in a fountain fairly easy to care for, but also a stunner as a garden accent.

Take a look at some of the succulents offered at Dirt Couture.

Placed in part shade, these beauties couldn’t be happier in the shallow planting area of a birdbath.

Be sure to drill a hole for drainage, use sandy cactus mix for a filler, and protect from freeze in cold climate gardens.
